About:

Gelei (Grace) Mai is a multi-media artist and designer. Her work presents erratic moments and ambiguous identity within high-context societies, and extends into rethinking human agency in the world of contemporary images.

Mai received her BFA and B.Arch degree from Rhode Island School of Design (2018) and has worked as architectural designer (2018-2019), art and design educator (2019-present), and photographer (2018-present). Throughout her education and career, Mai has brought her research and practice into teaching and collaboration with artists and art students in fields including, without limitation, architecture, spatial design, illustration, UI/UX, and installation art.

Mai is currently based in Guangzhou, China. Her primary media of creation have migrated to the digital dimension since the outbreak of COVID-19. See Portfolio section for her selected work.
